Stars! - Galactic conquest - Turns based strategy game. Very simple graphics. Computer AI can be very tough to beat. This is a game I've bought several copies of just to make sure I always have a copy.
Industry Giant - The most engrossing game I've ever played. Setup factories to build products from raw materials that you gather. Setup stores in the cities to sell your products. Setup the transportation networks to move all your materials around, including trucks, trains (the most fun), airplanes and ships. I most enjoy setting up the train tracks, it's like playing model trains, and actually getting rewarded for it, in terms of the total money that you accumulate. This is another game that I've bought several extra copies of, just to make sure I always have it.
Microsoft Windows 98 Pinball - I like this pinball. It has a nice story line, and I understand what it means when I select special missions like "3 re-entries", or "upgrade target bumpers".
SimCity - I have been playing this for many years. I even bought the version that runs on my sprint phone with built in Palm Pilot. Sadly, the palm pilot version of this game will not run on my Sony Clie that has Palm 5.0 OS.
SimCity 4 is a real treat to watch. The graphics are really great, and the ability to zoom in real close helps you really connect with your cities.
I haven't actually played these yet, but they sound like the kind of games I would like:
